Update from Join the Conversation: Help Shape the NHS 10-Year Health Plan Meeting
Anne gave an update on the recent 10 Year Health Plan Meeting. The purpose of the plan was to discuss ideas about moving services into the community which is causing conflicts with GP practices around Surrey due to lack of appropriate facilities. There were some issues raised about cost of parking.
Mental Health was particularly a worry as there was insufficient secure accommodation locally. Social services can’t help with medication – they have no capacity. It is an estates problem. This is a growing issue as there is a difference between mental illness and mental problems in health. Staff at the surgery are more sensitive, the practice now has a Social Prescriber who will follow up. Mental Health is particularly prevelant within the student population. The surgery will address this with posters on the notice board, there is also a more proactive offer 16 weeks of Talking Therapies that can be self-referred into .
Reasonable Adjustment
Michelle explained a new contractual requirement of providing a Reasonable Adjustment flag on those patients requiring it. This is looking at patients with disabilities, learning and physical. Once the surgery is alerted to any special adaptions required for a patient, from need quiet waiting space, to intepreters, sign language and special access requirements, it will create an electronic Flag on their records which sits on the NHS Spine and shares this with everyone, including hospital and pharmacy. Summary of care records no other data can be accessed when talking to patients in confidence with full consent.
Staffing update
New healthcare assistant, Maria. New doctor Amir Raza working Thursday and Friday. Other members of staff on maternity leave. Recruiting. New partners settled in – hope to get to a meeting.
1. Clinical Learning Environment Organisation
The PCN (Primary Care Network) the practice belongs to has applied to be a Clinical Learning Environment Organisation. This will allow the practice to support more students, including paramedics, pharmacists, doctors. The Senior partners at Woodbridge Hill are experienced trainers across London and have recently been accredited in Surrey.
Practice Learning Time – 5th March
The Practice is due to close for Training, 5th March afternoon. This allows protected time for staff Training. The Clinicians will received training on up-to-date clinical templates, while non-clinicians will train for an emergency situation in the practice and how to deal with this with or without a clinician in the building. This will allow the practice to get an understanding of whether staff are aware of procedures and where emergency equipment is accessed.

Benefits of triage system – working well
Short biography of new doctors requested was requested.
There was some discussion about Phlebotomy at the hospital, with concerns about parking and the time involved. It was thought that this went against the NHS plan to move care from hospital to the community. Michelle explained that a lot more conditions and consultations are taking place in local Pharmacies. Long term condition monitoring tests for conditions such as Diabetes, and vulnerable or elderly patients are still available at the practice.
After the meeting a member of the PPG suggested a photo board would be a good idea so patient at least recognised the staff, Michelle to take this back to the Partners.
Date of next meeting
