What this means

  • With your permission to proceed with the consultation, the clinician may use Heidi to assist with note-taking and summarising the consultation.
  • The technology helps clinicians focus more fully on listening and engaging with you, rather than typing during the consultation.
  • The clinician reviews, edits, and approves all clinical notes before they are saved to your medical record. AI does not make clinical decisions.

Confidentiality and data protection

  • Your information remains confidential and is handled in line with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the common law duty of confidentiality.
  • AI Scribe tools are designed for use in healthcare settings and meets NHS data security standards.
  • No decisions about your care are made by AI alone.

Consent and your choice

  • We rely on implied consent to use this technology as part of providing your care, in the same way as other clinical support tools.
  • If you do not wish AI to be used during your consultation, please tell the clinician at the start of the appointment. This will not affect the care you receive.
